One door shuts and another opens.

I've always believed it and I've always lived by it. But something is way off kilter in my life when doors are slamming shut all around me.
I've decided to take all the time I need to see if I can figure out what an open door even looks like.

Addendum: I did not mean to give the impression that this was about romantic relationships. I wish it were that simple. I will be back when I can.

  1. Yeah, me too.

Waiting for one to open for myself. But right now I'm honouring the closed one.

    And crying.

I hope yours doesn't involve tears my dear.

  2. I LOVE this post! Both your words and images.

And like you, I too believe this. And I too have gone through experiences where it seemed as though ALL the doors were slamming shut. Yet, it ended up being a time of great change and self-empowerment.

"I've decided to take all the time I need to see if I can figure out what an open door even looks like."

    Exactly.

And I can only share from my own experiences that it was my 'perception' to what an open door looked like because I kept looking for a 'familiar' door. But the door ended up being something that I had never thought of or even noticed.

    1. I have to agree with Ron. My perception, expectation, whatever, could have gotten in the way early on, so I didn't trust my radar and kept to myself. When the right door opened, my new love was quite different from what I was expecting :)

  10. I like to think of times like this...when it seems like all the doors are closed...as being a time to pass by those doors, as in a hallway, moving forward rather than lingering. I know you'll end up in a great place.

  11. I feel sad reading this. It reminds me of Renee's healing tears. I know your honesty will find an opening.

  12. When doors shut we must either wait for them to open when they will or push at them. That is if we want that particular door to re-open.

Sometimes a new door will open all by itself.

    Take care.

  13. The shutting of doors need not necessarily mean anything negative. It may well be the best that can happen to you under the circumstances. In retrospect, you will see that this was so.

  15. Well, crud. I am thinking of you and willing doors to fly open, like magic, as you approach.
