One of those "Seriously?" moments.

Remember when I was in the midst of all that de-cluttering and I cleaned out the closets and dressers in my bedroom, winnowing down my clothing? The only drawer I didn't bother with was the center drawer, which holds my bras and, since I share a bathroom with my sons, the stuff I need to get ready in the morning.  It's not like you really can fold bras anyway, and I have always just stuffed them into one side of the drawer and then rummaged through to find the one I want. Until the other day when I saw a great idea for laying them in a row, tucked into each other.  So I pulled them all out and did that (except for the ones that fasten in the middle, those are at the end folded in half). And then counted. Holy hell, I have 35 bras. And not a single ratty or disliked one in the lot, so nothing I could make myself get rid of. And, incidentally, this doesn't include the five running bras I keep with my exercise clothes.  How did this happen? Looks like I'm set for a long, long time. Either that, or it looks like I'm planning on opening a lingerie shop for a very specific type of customer. Say, small-boned women who wear a 34C.  I need an intervention.

  1. They all look colourful and fancy so I can see where you'd be tempted. I have five sports (3 black and 2 white) and two fancy (1 black and 1 nude). Very simple am I!

  2. Ahahahahahahahahahah!!! Thirty-five bras? That - almost - beats the time early in our marriage when I counted up and found I had 65 pairs of knickers! My new husband nearly died laughing when I told him.

But that method of organising a bra drawer is sheer genius - I'm off now to do the same to mine! I just hope none of the little cedar moth-repellent balls gets caught up in one of the cups.

Or at least, that I notice it before putting the bra on!

    1. WHen I did this with my undies drawer, I found 71 pairs, here!

And I'm pretty sure you'd notice a cedar ball in your bra!

    1. I had that same thought. I won't be buying more anytime soon, but I admit they make me happy.

  4. I'm not sure I've owned 35 bras in my lifetime. Seriously, I find maybe one new one per year that actually fits me.

    1. I found the brand that makes ones that fit me perfectly and I'm now going to have to learnt o ignore it when they have a sale.

  5. I guess whenever you see a pretty bra you just can't resist it! I have an incredibly small collection of clothes - probably because men's clothes are pretty dull and boring. Even my shirts only number about twelve, including work shirts. Now if men's knickers were prettier, I might well have a bulging knicker-drawer!

    1. The double entendre of that last sentence wiped the rest of your comment right out of my mind.

  7. It is nice to have a collection that makes you happy...and as a bonus, does not take up a lot of room!

  8. I believe you are unusual in this.
I once read an article in a glossy women’s magazine (the mag being glossy, not the women) which stated that the majority have drawers full of really rubbishy, worn-out, faded, once-white-now-yellowing bras instead of crispy, bright, new ones.

My bra drawer has half a dozen I never wear and another six I wear all the time. Time to go to the shops, methinks.

I was gonna say, those bras look very neatly placed in your drawer. Hey, what a great idea that was! And I need to do that with my undies because I'm normally a very neat and organized person, but I sometimes just THROW my underwear into a drawer.

And I just counted mine - I only have 12 pairs.

I finally got back online tonight. Yahooo!

And thank you for stopping by my blog last week.

  10. Hey, I will shop at your lingerie store. Just my size! I love buying new bras and underwear too (why are they so stupidly expensive?) so I have way too many. But even still, I tend to have my favourites so they don't get even rotation. Maybe I should rotate my underclothes the way I rotate my tires so they wear out more evenly?

    1. Cool!

I definitely wear some more than others. But it depends on what I'll be wearing and also who will see it.

  11. What a great idea. The drawer looks great. Yes that is a large number of bras but they are very pretty.

  12. Well, they are nice looking...Now that you know you've got so many, maybe the funds you might expend could go into your travel/vacation fund. Just a thought.

    1. This collection wasn't recent - it's not like my size changes, so it represents many years of buying. I don't think I actually have spent that much per annum.

  13. Mine are all in decent condition but I have less than 10. They're stinkin' expensive so I try not to buy them if I don't have to!

  14. i'd just be excited to find 35 different bras in my size to even try on that don't look like they came out of grandma's drawer or cost $100.
