Splitting my time between indoor and outdoor work.

First, let me say how thrilled I am that it is finally Daylight Savings Time! I was so happy that I turned all my clocks ahead on Friday night to give myself a jump-start. Helps me adjust to the change in sleep and gives me an extra day of having more light in the evening. Win-win. My state has a bill pending that would make DST permanent. I can't tell you how much I am hoping that it passes. With all the warmth and light we've had lately, I've been working outside as much as humanly possible.
I've tried to concentrate the indoor work to the cooler days or mornings/late evening.  One of my tasks for getting the house ready was to paint my younger son's room.  Both my boys chose green for their rooms, and this one was originally my older son's room.  He actually lobbied for black walls, but I vetoed that. The first order of business was taping the room off and patching all the holes.  He had pictures thumbtacked all over that room.
Actually, I wish he'd only used thumbtacks - some of the pictures were just nailed to the wall. And not small nails. With ENORMOUS nails.
I dragged all his belongings into the living room and set him sorting through them. When he's done, I'll reassemble the room in as organized and bland a way possible. Which means all the knives, machetes and the rifle and bullets will be tucked out of sight. Just like my wine rack has been taken apart and the bottles stowed in a cabinet in the basement. I have no idea who will be traipsing through my house when it's on the market, but I'd like to be as circumspect as possible.

Yup...I was soooooo thinking of you today when I realized it was DLS. I was up very late last night talking to the brother on the phone and forgot to SPRING the clocks forward. I finally remembered at NOON, which meant it was actually 1 PM.

I also thought of you today because the weather here was so gorgeous and Spring-like. I was outside all day, enjoying it.

WOW...those are some BIG nails. I like the color of your son's room. Green is one of my favorite colors. I also like the color of the walls in your living room.

    Have a FAB week, girl!

    1. I never forget, because Im waiting so eagerly for it. And yes, beautiful, beautiful weather!

I liked the green he chose, but I know buyers are generally looking for neutrals. But I'm leaving the LR as is.

    1. I think around here, the knives and guns would not be an issue - but I still think for safety reasons, they should be put up.

  3. You're thrilled. I'm bummed. Now I have to get up in the dark.

    1. It was already dark when I was getting up, so no change there for me.

  4. I'm thrilled too. Some $@/##% snow this week here, but pansies are on my mind

Good luck readying your house .
Are you moving into the big city?

    1. We may get more sow, but it's on it's way out, I can tell.

Yep, that's the plan. Well, the mid-sized city, anyway.

  5. We'll, that's interesting about hiding the wine. You probably get teetotalers in the Bible Belt? Here, a wine rack full of good wines would be a selling point for a home and people would probably try to write it into the contract.

    1. I won't put all the wine away, but my kids' friends all think I'm an alcoholic because I have a well-stocked wine rack. And there is a bit of the "you're a teetotaler or a drunk" attitude around here.

  6. I do like the light in the evenings, but hard to give up that hour of sleep :)

I have to say when we were looking at houses and even now if we go to an open house, I do tend to be a "looky lou" with what is out and about, pictures, plants, whatnot. Wise to keep the house as simple as you can while you are trying to sell it.

    1. How can you NOT look around? When we were looking at this house, my kids were really put off by the family photos on the walls!

    1. I hate the winter schedule, too - so depressing to have the days end early.

  8. Wow, those nails are big! And filling in lots of holes is a tedious business.

Funny about the wine. As Bijoux says, it would probably be a selling point here as well. Suggests a place where people enjoy themselves! And of course most Irish people love a tipple or two!

I'd definitely find all the weapons a bit scary though....

    1. The weapons wouldn't worry anyone here - I just don't want to invite someone to break in later and steal them.

  9. I have developed a real OCD about putting holes in walls, so much so that I can't seem to hang the art I have and love for fear I'll put the hole in the wrong spot. It takes me years to finally hang something - I know, seriously, I need help! Good luck with your efforts and listing. I hope you don't have to paint ALL of the rooms, again...

    1. I don't worry about that - they can always be filled later and painted over. Just not big nails.

  10. WHERE did he get those huge nails??? They look like they came from an antique road show. OMGosh, kids are funny. I'm a fan of DST too... makes me into a new person.

    1. Oh, just from the basement. I have all kinds of tools there and the kids are also scavengers.

  11. Looks like quite a project. My son also wanted his walls black, settled for a dark ruby red. I just did a post on DST also, the first years of it when I was a kid.

    1. I vetoed British Racing Green, too. Said it had to be a medium color, not terribly dark.

  12. That's a good idea on the clock change early! Good for you doing all that work and a great idea keeping those things out of sight.

    1. I really want to maximize the chance of selling this place, so it's worth the effort.

  13. Are you planning to sell and move? I must have missed out on that.

  14. I love the longer days and this the first year the change didn't bother me...I was up super early anyway. I barely noticed.

  15. We were away last week so just catching up with my blog reading. We don't put our clocks forward until the end of March but already the mornings and evenings are lighter and I love it! We have had lovely Springlike weather here for the past few days too and it's great to see the spring flowers in the garden.

My youngest son had all his bedroom walls painted black when he was living here, it's still there under the wallpaper I put up after he'd moved out. Goodness knows what future occupants of our house will think when they redecorate. LOL

    1. First they'll curse you for putting up wallpaper, and after they remove that, they'll curse you for painting the walls black! :-)
