Spring slipped in before April, but barely.

Spring committed itself finally on the last day of March. Everywhere I look there is color - the azaleas are budding, the pierris is covered in little white bells and the periwinkle is going nuts.
I seem to have twice as many daffodils as last year, in big clumps. You can be sure I will be putting in lots of daffodil bulbs in whatever yard I own next. When I got home around 6:30 last night, it was warm and sunny and still in the mid-70's.
But along with all the plants I want, like these delicate grape hyacinths, there were also tiny white flower-topped weeds all over the yard. Clearly it was time to mow. And it was amazing to shake off the gray of the previous week and be out working in a tank top in the sun. Afterwards, I sat on my front step and drank an icy beer as the air started to dip below 70. I remembered why I love this part of the country so much.

  2. I suspect the new owners will love your flowers and the lawn care you have done. Are you getting close (weeks?) to showing the house?

  4. I was so thinking of you last week, when I went to the Macy's Flower Show and saw all the beautiful spring flowers! In fact, I took a bunch of pics, which I will be sharing sometime next week on my blog.

GORGEOUS photographs! And I could smell those hyacinths from here!

That last photo of the daffodil is stunning! I've never seen them that color before. WOW!

    1. I bought those bulbs from a catalogue and just love the color. I plan to dig up some of the bulbs (I'll leave some) and take them with me.

    1. I don't think it will at this point. We are usually safe to plant tender annuals at Easter and that's just a couple of weeks away.

  10. Those are the only flowers I will be seeing for some time yet. Still have snow in the yard, and more is falling as I type this. But when they get here, I will definitely be enjoying them!!

    1. I know lots of people are still blanketed in snow - that's hard.
