Sunday walk.

A couple of random scenes from a new hiking spot. With perfect weather on Sunday, the great blue herons were working on their nests.
And all the rain left the river running really high that day.
I believe this place was a farm prior to becoming a nature preserve. It was a good place for a picnic. And part of the odd weekend - story to follow later.
In the meantime, the frogs. If you turn the volume all the way up, you still won't get close to how overwhelmingly loud the invisible little buggers were.

  1. Beeeeeautiful photos!

Love how close you captured the blue herons and the colors in last shot are awesome. The sunlight is stunning!

Oh, and I have to tell ya, before I watched the video, I turned both the volume up on the clip PLUS I turned my speakers to FULL volume, so when the sound came on....I FLEW out of my seat! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Boy, you're right, they were LOUD!

Thanks for sharing your Sunday walk. Enjoyed!

  3. Very jealous that there is no snow on the ground. I am ready for spring and the sound of the frogs...if only they would cooperate. Loved that video.

  12. It looks so odd. Then again, I'm used to snow being everywhere until April most years.

    1. Not around here - we're usually done with snow by early March at the latest.

  13. I always assume birds like to build nests in hidden places where they won't be spotted easily. Clearly not so in this case, that nest couldn't be more visible!

And those frogs are sure making their presence felt!

    1. Great blue herons are huge - I don't think they have many predators.
